To get to the point, I have offered on several occasions to give
talks at Humbug meetings on any subject that I'm qualified to
speak on; I'm certain that several of our other geek members are
happy to do the same.
What's missing at present is some indicator from the eager
crowds about topics that people would like to hear about. I'm
ignoring Tony's suggestion (for a re-run of my talk on ed),
since we've had that. Of course, if several people ask for it,
then I'm happy to do it again.
But I (and I'm sure others) would be quite happy to talk, if
people would just say what they want to hear. So, if you're
pining to hear more talks at Humbug -- whether it be about using
Unix utilities or desktop software, writing software in a
variety of languages, managing security, or whatever -- make
your wishes heard and people will magically step forward. But
if there's no interest from the membership, there probably won't
be many talks.
Cheers, Greg
