I went from Woody to Sarge by just doing a dist-upgrade. I was quite
prepared for things to break but was hoping they wouldn't (as the cd-rom
drive on that computer is broken and it's the only box in the house with
a working floppy drive). Nothing did break, in fact it was the cleanest
apt-get I've ever done! I've seen an ISO image called
"debian-update-3.1r1-i386-1.iso" and a 2nd one similarly titled but not
sure what they do. Perhaps look that up on the website to see if it
contains what you need?

That said, I do tend to agree with Greg's suggestion of backing up all
the important data and reinstalling from scratch. I do plan to do this
in the future, the in-place upgrade was just a temporary measure until I
am ready to put a more powerful box in place and retire this old one for
spare parts (it's a k6-2-300).

Sandra.

McGee: Are you wishing you were a computer geek?
Tony: I'd rather be homeless than be you, probie.
