Hi Folks.

There are many suitable topics for presentation.

Possibilities include :-

Current technologies and developments in the Linux / Open Source World.
Movements towards Linux and Open Source, both local and international.
Talks on the various distributions (Redhat, SUSE, Mandriva, Debian, Ubuntu,
the BSD's etc. )
Open Source projects (including non software - IBM OpenPower, SUN OpenSparc
etc)
Bootloaders - How they work, manual configuration, recovery procedures etc
Debian (Ubuntu and others) APT repository configurations and options
APT-GET commands and options
Hardware monitoring programs - Installation, configuration, monitoring and
interpretation (eg LM-Sensors, HDDTemp etc )
for situations like classrooms, server farms, disk farms etc.
Management of large numbers of servers and desktops.
SAMBA
Networking etc.
Kernel Updates
Window Manager updates.
File Systems.
Content Management Systems for websites.
Accounting programs for Linux.
etc. etc.

The Novell Users Group - SEQNUG ( www.seqnug.org.au ) would be happy to
consider presentations from interested people.
The group has historically had a Novell Netware background and expanded on
this when Novell's Zenworks program provided basic management of Linux
Servers and Desktops.

Since then Novell acquired SUSE (Linux), XIMIAN (GNOME, Desktop, RedCarpet,
MONO etc) and some other companies. They also Open Sourced some of their
proprietary software.

So the interest of the group has grown to include Linux distributions and
Open Source Software and Projects. The group would also like to educate and
help spread awareness of Linux and Open Source Software.
Traditionally membership has come from Government, Education and Corporate
sectors but with the adoption of Linux and Open Source Software the
membership has diversified.

Anyone interested in giving a presentation at a SEQNUG meeting should
contact John Glennie at

jglennie at marymount.qld.edu.au .

Thank you.

Regards,
Simon Ellis.
