Hhmmm ... I've been writing single layer DVDs using K3B under SuSE 9.3 
without problem on the same model Pioneer drive.  Even before getting 
the DVR110, I was successfully writing single layer discs on a DVR108 
in the same computer, with few failures.

Have used 3 different brands/types of blank DVD in the DVR110 all with 
success.  A DVD+R 4x, a DVD-R 4x, and a DVD-R 8x.  I forget the brand 
names, but I bought the 8x discs with the DVR110.
