Hi all,

would HUMBUG be interested in participating in Software Freedom Day on the
10th September? Basically it is an opportunity to strut our stuff, get
qualitative growth of the community and get some good press around FOSS. I
would recommend any of the following activities:

- having a FOSS stand at an existing fair/market and handing out CDs, etc
- hand out cds with pamphlets with websites and useful links to newbies
- have a community centre or school installfest, going to help them set up
some machines. You could involve computerbank or local companies with old
PCs in such an event as it'd be a good sponsorship/press opportunitity for
them while simultaneously helping out people in need.
- have a seminar/talks day open to the public
- invite someone famous and teach them about FOSS

If you are interested, it'd be great to have a HUMBUG entry on the SFD
website under the "Australia" team entry I already have, and put down what
you'd like to do.

Keep in mind that Linux Australia have grants available for worthy FOSS
projects and you can apply for one at

Cheers,
Pia
