Hi,

If anyone can help me solve this I would grealy appreciate it.
I have tried for many hours, googling, and trying various things with no
success...

I am trying to get my Remote Control (that came with my TV card) to
work.

It is:
0000:00:0d.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio
Capture (rev 11)
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
        Memory at ef002000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
        Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2

I have installed the following packages:
daisy:~# dpkg -l | grep lirc -i
ii liblircclient0 0.6.6-7 LIRC client library
ii lirc 0.6.6-7 Linux Infra-red Remote Control support
ii lirc-modules-2 0.6.6-7+Custom Linux Infra-red Remote Control support
(bina
ii lirc-modules-s 0.6.6-7 Linux Infra-red Remote Control support
(kern
ii lirc-svga 0.6.6-7 Linux Infra-red Remote Control support
(svga
ii lirc-x 0.6.6-7 Linux Infra-red Remote Control support
(X de
ii xmms-lirc 1.4-1 Linux Infrared Remote Control for XMMS

I have tried the "Automagically" configuration and compilation of the
modules, which appeared to fail.

I then tried to manually compile and install the binary modules,
following the EXACT steps in the README file in
/usr/src/modules/lirc/README

This was done successfully, despite some depmod warnings about
unresolved symbols.

When I reconfigure 'lirc' to select the type of card I have and load the
kernel modules in.

I get the following:
Setting up modutils file
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

In /var/log/message:
Sep 4 02:35:51 daisy kernel: lirc_gpio (-1): card type 0x29, id 0x0
Sep 4 02:35:51 daisy kernel: lirc_gpio (-1): TV card type 29 not
supported!

I do want to get this Remote Control working, I will not be beaten by it
:)

And in case anyons is wondering:

* The TV Card works fine
* I can watch TV just fine
* I can listen to the radio just fine

Appreciate it guys,

cheers
James
