Thankyou for your advice all. I will look into the brands you mentioned, 
and call the commander vendor.

For the record, I only want enough capacity to shutdown the PCs
safely, and protect them from spikes.  I think I will forget about
the laser plotter.  If anyone is plotting during a blackout, I would
like to see how they do that anyway.  I was just thinking about
spikes damaging a $20k plotter.
