A year or so ago my trusty old (>5 years) HP deskjet 670C went to
print heaven, poor thing was just worn out. I looked on various websites
specifically related to linux printing and found that the HP 5550C was
fully supported by the hpjs driver package.
Walked into Meyer Megastore and came out 5 minutes later $180 poorer,
with it under my arm. It was extremely simple to set up under Red Hat 8
and 9, prints well and is nice and quiet while reasonably quick-
cartridges are a bit expensive but they last a while. Haven't tried
Photo quality yet but normal color printing is pretty good.
It couldn't have been easier.
