The $150 range printers all use a very limited control language which is only
partially supported under linux. If you want full support you probably have to
bite the bullet and go for the ~$400 range. Personally I have a HP 450cbi which
works like a charm. Good if you want something portable.
Otherwise, just cross match the machines at
http://www.linuxprinting.org/printer_list.cgi?make=HP
until you find something suitable.
