 I use a Brother HL-1430 which is shared over Samba/CUPS to an XP box, and
it works perfectly, good quality, cheap toner - and the printer itself is
<$300.

I am looking to purchase a new cheap (up to $500) laser printer to run a
Linux cups box. Can any one suggest a make and model that is known to work.
I know that HPs are better supported but I can get Canons at a good price so
that would probably be my preference.
