| Check out BackupPC http://backuppc.sourceforge.net - it's the best
opensource
| one I know of. Uses pooled hard disk for storage, has a web interface,
can
| use tar over ssh/rsync/smb to back up remote servers and has the
ability to
| dump to media such as tapes and files in tar format. You can then burn
the
| files to the DVD using something like cdrecord.
Ahh okay, I had seen this one, but the issue is getting the files onto
the DVD. I've currently got the ProDVD version of cdrecord installed on
the server, however it currently is running in "demo" mode, which means
that I can burn at most, 1 GB of data onto a DVD-RW -- rendering this
media useless.
The other possibility, (if I can't find a suitable Linux program), is we
put the burner into a Windows (shudder) PC and use something like Nero.
~ The server could send the user an email with a link to download the ISO
image to burn at their leisure. This has some advantages, but I'd
prefer to have the server use the burner directly.
