ntpd is really the only game in town. It will act as a time server (as
well as a synchroniser of the local clock) by default in various
distributions I've seen... but what do you mean by a time server?
Do you mean that you want the local clock of your Redhat box to be the
reference clock for your network?
Do you mean you want to wire up a real time source such as a GPS or GSM
clock input?
Do you mean you want it to synchronise time from internet sources (such
as the ntp server provided by an ISP?) and on-publish that?
The third option is simplest, but all options are available to you with
varying degrees of complexity depending on how interesting you want your
setup to be. If you have trouble with the (sometimes patchy)
documentation you will probably be able to find help in IRC channels or
on this mailing list. Beware that time synchronisation configurations
can take some real wall-time to setup correctly, test, and debug. I
spent time a few years ago debugging ntp configurations on a customer
site and found excellent support on a few linux-orientated IRC channels.
