IFRC, ipfw is a front-end to iptables. I am certain that iptables would
also have this option... Perhaps it's something to look into for Linux
:)

PS: Why are counters in iptables less accurate ?
    If I could do everything just with iptables, I will build it
	 directly into my firewall rules.
