Differences are I only have one host and I'm not certain about the 
inter-switch link but I'm assuming it would be there

Hmm, looking back at your email I think that is pretty much what you had 
as option 2.

No idea how to go about the "start exchanging routing information with 
the routers" bit though.  The rest of it kinda makes sense though.
