Why not just use dump to take a dump of the filesystem and restore it to
the other box.  Tar can be used in this manner too.  No need to go to
the trouble of mirroring through raid.

I've built new boxes this way often.  Boot the new server off a Knoppix
disk (or even the RH EL disk if it has the needed tools) and pipe the data
over the network via ssh.  You can drop it straight on the new drive and
away you go.  Hmm...It's easier than this makes it sound :)
