I should have noted this earlier and responded, sorry.  I'm also 
getting intermittent cable outages.  It's a right pain in the butt when 
doing large cvs updates.  My gateway is a SnapGear box (embedded 
Linux).  Since this is entirely in firmware I knew that I hadn't 
changed anything.

The outages are still happening for me, but do not seem to be as long 
as they were.  I notice them when streaming audio, which is also 
annoying.  While I'd been happy with cable until now, this is enough to 
make me change to ADSL.
