In that case, remove some files and you'll see that you can the
number of inodes is decreasing (should be at least).
Despite that empty files don't take up disk space, they do take up
inode space. So look for a directory with a lot of empty files and
you might see where they are used. If you can't find them easily,
reboot the box: with a little bit of luck it will overcome the
problem easier than finding the culprit.
