No it's a proposal whereby it makes it easier to connect to other's
machines instead of shouting across the room:

"Hey ... What's your ip ?"

THen ... having ti do an /sbin/ifconfig eth0

Yes the IP is sometimes (generally often) the same IP, but nobody seems
to remember the IP anyway when you tell them :) (Not the next meeting
anyway)
