[H-GEN] Outlook inbox can't receive mail

Sounds like outlook is delivering mail to a location other than the PST
file, so you do not get to see the new mails as they arrive. Exit outlook,
goto mail in the control panel, click email accounts, view/change and check
the 'deliver new mail to' option to make sure it makes sense. Failing that,
make sure no filters are enabled that are blocking the mails appearing in
the inbox - if filters is the problem, this can be easy to spot, because it
downloads mail, says there are 50 unread messages in the inbox, but you
can't see them.
Regards,

Yes, I know it's embarrassing to still have to deal, though rarely, with
that stuff.
Outlook 2000 on a new XP machine was 'updated' by the user by importing his
old outlook pst-file. I am not quite sure what exactly he's done but ever
since e-mail cannot be received anymore.
To be exact, authentication and e-mail check is successful, however, the
actual e-mail can't be received. It looks like outlook 'forgot', or does not
know where to put the actual e-mail file so it drops the mail server
connection prematurely. Outgoing mail is fine.
Send/receive for the same account on a different machine is completely fine.
It's not a mail server issue.
The whole thing looks to me like that the inbox got stuffed up during the
import. I have never seen such a case. Anyone ever had that happen to them,
or any ideas as to what it is and how it can be fixed short of an outlook
re-install. I had a look through all those myriads of outlook settings
without a positive yet.
Cheers
Johannes
