I don't have a problem with that, except I'm trying to do all this via
floppies then install over the network. So I've got a bit of a chicken and
an egg problem, unless I start burning/buying Debian installation CD's.
Something that I was trying to avoid.

And I think I could be wrong about trying to build against the kernel.
Surely all I need are the header files for this.

The problem is that the module is built against 2.4.18 and the kernel is
2.4.18-bf2.4. So I force (insmod -f e1000.o) and get a tainted kernel. When
I try to use DCHP there is a seg fault (most likeley due to the driver).
