I have set up a logitech webcam under linux. I'm not expert on vmware,
but I'm pretty certain you will have to have it running under linux
before there is any chance of getting it to run under win2000 through
vwmare. As I understand it vmware uses virtual drivers. Any, support for
your device will depend on the model, even then you will need the serial
and/or product number. I have one logitech camera, and halfway through
the product run, logitech changed the hardware inside the camera, so the
drivers are different.
If you can give me more details on what camera you have, and what distro
you are running, I can give you more comprehensive instruction on
getting the camera to work,
cheers
Johann
