[In contrast to my previous email, this one is aimed at the general HUMBUG
membership, even though it is a cluster subject.]

First of all, big thanks to the two people that responded last time I
called for volunteers to adopt a node, Greg Black and Greg Fairbrother.
Both nodes are quite happy in their new homes.

Second, there are still five cluster nodes that need to be adopted, so ...

Please volunteer to adopt a cluster node, they are not cute or cuddly, but
they need good homes.

HUMBUG's cluster is made up of several ordinary PC's that need homes
between meetings. By spreading them around the membership, I can ensure
that most of them will be available at all meetings, even if one or two
can't make it to a particular meeting. To adopt a node, all you need is
room in your vehicle and home for one computer box and it's power and
network cables, no monitor keyboard or mouse. No need to plug it in, or do
anything other than transport and store it. When it gets to the meetings,
the cluster SIG is responsible for setting it up and packing it up. When
it is at your home, you are only responsible for storing it safely, brining
it to all the meetings you attend, and informing me if you are unable to
bring it to a meeting.

As a bonus, you get naming rights for your adopted node. Currently they
are imaginatively named n1, n2, etc. The restrictions on the name are the
usual restrictions on a FDQN, with the domain part being
.cluster.meeting.humbug.org.au. For example, node one is currently called
n1.cluster.meeting.humbug.org.au, if Greg had decided to call it "fred" it
would now be called fred.cluster.meeting.humbug.org.au. Both Greg's
declined their naming rights.
