One of our offices deployed an officejet hp7140, which requires an hpijs
driver, which in turn requires ijs support to be compiled in gs.

The vendors gs 6.51 does not contain ijs support. The vendor also does not
provide the gs 6.51 sources. I have to wonder about the reason.

Because of that I took espgs 7.05 and compiled it with ijs support.

Printing from acroread 5 works just fine, however, printing from kmail or
staroffice does not appear to render properly.

The cups/error log file says that the renderer did not understand the
generated ps file from kmail and staroffice and exits with a final error 3.

All applications go through kprinter.

Environment is kernel 2.4.20, kde 3.1.2, cups 1.1.10

Anyone had this kind of issue before? Is it a cups, gv, gs, lpr, kprinter
problem of some kind? Do I need to make espgs understand the apparently
different gs output from kmail and startoffice?

Cheers

Johannes
