I know from experience that a month or two of non-use will require a new
ink cartridge on Epson inkjet printers.  You may get away with two to three
weeks depending on local humidity (it was very dry where I was).  I have no
knowledge of HP printers, sorry.  Non-use for a few days was never a problem.
