to this. If you run the ttysnoop under screen (ie, leaving it running on
the box all the time) then you would have the state information you desire
- just attach the relevant screen session after sshing into the box. This
screen session (unlike the ones mentioned earlier) would be used by the
sysadmin only.
Your solution is probably neater anyway, but I just wanted to mention that
it could be done using existing tools (albeit, as a bit of a hack :)
