Is there anyone who is familiar with diagnosing problems using output from
strace who would be interested in looking at some output for me?
I'm still experiencing problems with Neverwinter Nights, and following some
discussion on the forums I've run it through strace. That's all well and
good, except that I have absolutely no idea what all this output means.
In addition, it appears that the problem *may* be caused by artsd and/or alsa.
i've told KDE not to load artsd at startup, but this hasn't fixed the
problem. I don't recall how I ended up with alsa in the first place, but am
unsure how to get away from it to use (for example) something like OSS. I
have an AC'97 compatible sound 'card' (onboard). (Yes it's awful, but I'm
making do as my pci card died a horrible death.)
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
Sandra.
