Just to make it more confusing (or clear): The console is not the first
terminal (second, third, fourth etc) on your system. The console
is a terminal to which all important messages are logged. That's
why you can run programs like xconsole to see all these messages.
I would go for something like /dev/snp (Probably FreeBSD specific,
see man snp for more info).
