Hi,
I had this problem a few weeks ago and I had a gateway setup in
/etc/network/interfaces. When I commented out the gateway in the
/etc/network/interfaces file pon dialed up the internet and worked fine.
I am fairly new to Debian myself so I can only tell you what I have
experianced, I hope this helps you out.
Regards,
