Yep, I can verify this because we've had no problems using our old
Matsushita 8xread /4xwrite CD-R burner (50-pin SCSI interface).

I'll vouch for that, I never quite got our IDE CD-ROM recognised by
X-CDRoast, but I've solved the problem by replacing it with a SCSI
CD-ROM (of slightly faster speed). Linux 2.6 is looking nice, I can't
wait for it to be released.
