Well, being a member of AUUG I was quite satisfied that their response was
appropriate and adequate (particularly given that SCO's actions haven't
enough credibility to cause us significant problems at a personal level).
HUMBUG is a small regional group, whose voice would mean little to the any
of the parties involved. I'm sure IBM and every other Linux oriented
company would be pleased to hear a cry of outrage from every little group
around the world, but the fact is that it is quite unlikely that anything
said by HUMBUG would even be heard by the parties involved.
If something were happening at a local level, ie. Brisbane, Queensland (or
perhaps even Australia if it were a big enough issue) then HUMBUG should
certainly have a voice. Anything above that level (as this is), then I
think that AUUG better serves my interests.
That said, I wouldn't be averse to publicly supporting AUUG. After all,
HUMBUG does share common interests, and on past occasions each
organisation has supported the activities of the other.
