G'day Goldilocks, Harry, Johann et Al,
I did exactly as Won Fang suggested
and........
it worked perfectly!
So simple when you think about it.
I now boot the first computer into w 98, then boot the others, [Debian, 
Xandros and RH.]
None of the latter care that kvm is not activated during their 
individual boot up.
Only when there is no hdd activity do I switch over to my *nix boxen
No worries, after that.
These switches are great fun, they even come with a full set of cables!.
I can now dump my old mechanical switches on the top desk, next Humbug.
