I've always been pleased with the quality of the Samsung professional
gear. It's just smartly designed, devoid of useless crap features, and
actually looks good.
My Samsung 17" CRT is still probably the best 17" CRT monitor I've ever
seen. Tiny dot pitch, meaning very crisp high resolution display, and it
will do 85Hz vertical refresh at 1600x1200, _and_ have no jitter
whatsoever.

I've also found that new monitors are just far less likely to lose the
display because of being overdriven. Quite probably because they support
a higher range of frequencies.
If I have to wait an extra half second for my display to synch, I don't
mind.
