I wouldn't.  I run all my home boxes 24/7 and they are very
rarely in air conditioned spaces and the drives typically last
for 10 years or more (although they tend to get turned into art
objects after that long because they are by then so small.  I
have a 486 that is a couple of weeks short of its 10th birthday
and all of its drives (some of which were five years old when I
got this box) are still functional.

In my opinion, steady heat from always-on components provides
the best reliability.  Turning things off and/or moving them
seem to be the real killers.
