[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Posts from non-subscribed addresses will vanish. ]
Hi All,
I am back from my travels and I will be attending the meeting on
Saturday. I have been monitoring the list, but I have not heard any line
noise in the last week on this topic, so I thought I would post and get it
going again. I propose that, would all interested in forming a Humbug
Cluster for fun and research attend the meeting on Saturday night at about
6:45pm (I don't anticipate getting there before 6:00pm as I have a previous
engagement). Could all those who have kindly offered to donate hardware also
bring that hardware to the meeting. The purpose of the meeting will be to
firstly gauge interest, secondly to identify what we will need to get a
group off the ground for this Project, and finally to form a Special
Interest Group as part of Humbug and get approval for all of the above from
the Humbug Committee (Could at least one Humbug Committee member attend the
meeting please). I anticipate that the meeting would only be initially very
short (maybe 30 mins) to get started and should slot in before any other
talks scheduled for the main Humbug meeting that night. All Humbuggers are
welcome to attend the meeting, and the group would be for all levels of
experience in Clustering. We would also be asking for volunteers to be
custodian of such a Humbug Cluster, and to both set it up each week at the
meeting, and also have some place it could be set up and run during the week
that SIG members would have net access to it to use, and finally the
custodian would have to be a regular attender and be willing to stay a long
time at meetings. Any issues about custodial duties would also need to be
talked about in the initial meeting. O.K. guys, lets get to it and get this
off the ground properly.
Cheers!
Andrew.
