I wouldn't be too worried about that. 3 200MHz PPC processors[1] won't be
overly fast anyway, and it's more about the exercise of getting an
task to run across multiple machines.
There is more than one way to skin this particular cat, and while the
"wizards" maybe coding in C, Perl and friends are friendly enough
and already have the module support to do the same.
The concepts remain the same regardless, so it comes down to the task
you have, and how you choose to implement it.
[1] 3 nodes, and 1 controller.
