I just recently went through the process of getting the second head on my
G400 to work. The only trick was to get the matrox supplied drivers (they
enable a bunch of things to support dual head that aren't enabled by
default... at least on a debian system) and XFree 4.2.1. After that it
worked rather smoothly. They provide a program (needs GTK to compile) for
controlling the dual head support called powerdesk which had buttons to
enable the second display and to control what this display does (extended
desktop/mirror/tv out). Seems to work well but I can't say I tested the TV
out. Dunno if a G400 is souped up enough for any other unstated
requirements you might have, but it is an option.

Cheers
Michael
