I'm using an ATi Radeon 7000 (64MB AGP) quite happily under Linux here.
~ The framebuffer can sometimes be a pain, but you only need that if you
want to run a text mode of 1024x768 like I do.  (at the moment, it's
640x480 until I can be bothered determining the kernel parameter to
change it).

I've never succeeded in getting OpenGL to work, which is a bummer when
playing Quake II and anything else requiring 3D, but I think this is
more my configuration, I'll have to look closely at the documentation on
the DRI website.
