It's because you never write anything else with the IP, it could mean
anything.  A smarter move would include a description.

The IP was written on the blackboard twice, and was up there all through
the meeting.  It is always written on the blackboard, as I also run a file
server.

That won't happen on my crossfire server, I've configured it so that the
most that will happen is that you get returned to the beginning position
with all you equipment and experience if something goes wrong.  Dying still
has penalties off course B-).
