[H-GEN] RedHat ES 3.0 and snmpd

Hi,

Has anyone else had issues with RedHat Enterprise Server 3.0 and snmpd ?

I have a cantankerous Sun v60x running the above OS and snmpd will not
start. At one stage the daemon would start but it wouldn't bind to a
port (namely udp 161), but now it won't even start the daemon.

On an identical machine it starts just fine with the default RedHat
config, and binds to the correct port, so I'm fairly sure it's not the
daemon itself, but rather something I've screwed up in the config or
permissions (after my initial failures with the problematic machine I
ran snmpconfig and generated a new snmpd.conf file, to no avail).

The version of snmpd is Net-SNMP 5.x (I haven't got access to the
machine form home and forgot to write down the whole version string -
but suffice to say it's the latest RH ES 3.0 release).

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Dave
