Hi All,
My dedicated phone line based Internet and Web server is killing me with
data charges and lack of speed, so I am in the process of changing over to
ASDL. I have had the luxury of 64 IP addresses to play with on my network to
do such things as IP based Web Services, and hook up my numerous machines
(so far a Server, a desktop, two laptops, two research machines, and
hopefully soon a 4 node mini cluster).

Unfortunately it looks like I may lose those IP addresses or be severely
reduced to as few as one or two. This is a major pain as it will require a
total reorganisation of the network configuration. It looks like I will have
to do at least two things immediately 1. change over the IP based web sites
to name based websites (not a major problem, but still a pain), and 2.
change the whole network to a private network and do NAT on the server to
get out.

I have not decided which ISP to hook up to yet, but what I need is some
assistance in planning what I need to do and how, so that when I do get a
new ISP, the change over will be transparent to the Net Community and
relatively painless to me. The web site I host is fairly active, and I
cannot afford to be offline for any more than a few hours, and even then I
prefer to go live with the new setup, and cutover without an interruption to
the service.

So, is anybody willing to help me out at the meeting to plan my new
setup, and possibly end up spending a day helping me get my new system going
over the next few weeks. I am willing to provide food, refreshments,
transport if required, and friendship (these things are all negotiable) to
anyone who can help out with the actual setup.

I should be at the meeting on Saturday, unless my wife has planned
something I don't know about yet. The planning will be more of an open
discussion on what I can and can't do, and the best ways to go about it. I
consider myself an Intermediate level Linux user (ie I don't claim to know
it all, but I know more than a compleate newbie), and I have run my website
and server for about 4 years now. If anyone is willing to help out, it would
be much appreciated. I will probably let one of the committee know who I am
and what I want if you want to track me down at the meeting (Hitcho or David
Siekel because I know who they are) and I usually get to meetings at about
4pm and hang around until about 9pm.

If anyone can help out, please email me and let me know before the
meeting. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers!
        Andrew.
