Has anyone seen the program 'MailWasher' that runs under windows?
I was wondering if there was anything like that for Linux? I don't want
to run Mailwasher under wine or anything like that.
I am no expert but Mailwasher appears to work like this:
1. It only downloads the headers of the e-mail.
2. Based on rules and blacklists marks the messages.
3. You scan the messages and manually mark them to be deleted and add
the sender to the blacklist.
4. Mailwasher processes the mail informing the POP3 server which mail to
delete etc.
5. You then download the left over messages using you mail program.
I use SpamAssassin and it works great, marks messages as spam really
well. The limitation is that if the message has a 5M attachment or is
from a known spammer the *entire* message is downloaded before it is
checked.
Is there any tool like SpamAssassin that can just download the headers,
run the rules over them and delete them (like MailWasher does) without
downloading the whole thing.
If I was using SpamAssassin I would set the automatic delete from the
server to a score that has very few false positives.
