Hi Alex,

We use samba here all of the time and is accessible via Win 98, Win 2000 and
Win XP boxes.  It allows ALL users to read and write to this share.  We use
this as our pooled file area.  Firstly make sure you have entered your
workgroup name at the top of the smb.conf file and then use the following -

[public]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /home/local/samba-public
public = yes
writable = yes
write list = @users

If you used Mandrake Control Centre to set up the Samba share then you
should have a folder in /home/local/samba-public which appears on the Win
boxes as "public".

It may not be technically correct but it goes - it goes!!
