At cjb's suggestion, I downloaded the latest Matrox G400 drivers and
PowerDesk.  After installing these drivers (and using the same
XFConfig-4 file as shown on your web page), I got the second display
working.  WOOHOO!

I am using Xinerama, and am happy to live with the missing chunk off the
bottom of the second monitor.  I do not use this system for 3D - its my
main workstation - used purely for my work-related needs.  At some stage
I'll drop Xinerama and play without it.  If I like that, I may stay
there.  I *do* like the ability to drag a window between the two screens
- just as one can with that other OS.
