Well, I went this way, and it works beautifully (and I've now got a number
of these print servers running). I've got one question though.

When samba manages the print queue of a local printer, you are able to
delete queued jobs, and manage the print queue. When I use a lp_server
print server on a netbooted machine, the samba server sends all jobs to
the actual print server, and you can't delete queued jobs (from within
windows). Is there a workaround for this?

I've discovered netbooting, and it is wonderful. [1]

[1] I plan to run a firewall machine on a read only nfs mount, and
separate subnet to the main lan using etherboot. I'll log to the main
server, and be able to maintain the whole system in one place. Can anyone
see a problem with this?
