Perhaps the limited resources and the inefficiency of the Perl 
script provide the explanation -- although I'm surprised that it 
took as long as it seems to have done, even then.  I think it would 
indeed be interesting to see if it can handle fifty or a hundred 
messages better now that you've changed the setup.
