I've tested this from several hosts using the following command
and I didn't see anything abnormal.  I suggest you setup a cron
entry to run this at regular intervals (say 5 minutes) and see if
you can capture an example.

    sudo tcpdump -i eth0 -n -c 2 port 53 2>/dev/null & \
	dig @202.139.124.225 optus.net.au mx >/dev/null
