Printing has actually quite good in Linux in the last few years (at least
imho).  Magicfilter is great.  I have used this on Debian in many times in
recent years.  Redhat has printtool and there is CUPS.  I haven't had to
play with CUPS at all but intend to soonish (considering borrowing that
new addition to the library).
