If it's a branded Laptop (i.e. IBM, Toshiba, Excel, Compaq) and you have the
invoice with date of purchase, find another outlet selling the same brand
and they should honour the warranty.  They will need to talk to the
wholesaler first though.

One of the problems we face as retailers is that the wholesaler covers the
warranty from the date of purchase of the retailer, not the customer.  If
the laptop was in stock for some time, you might have a problem.
