the way i do it is like this.
in /etc/init.d/ there is a file called skeleton.
cp skeleton mydaemon
then use your favourite editor to open the file. change the first few lines
of code (prolly about 5 or 6 lines into the file) to be what you want it to be.
then u can /etc/init.d/mydaemon start [or stop or restart]
if you want it to start automatically on boot, put a symlink in /etc/rc2.d
[i think, been a while since i did this] but make sure the symlink points
to the full path of the mydaemon file, ie /etc/init.d/mydaemon
maybe i just like to do things the hard way, but i find this is a nice
learning experience and you get full control over what starts when and
where from.
