The larger your group becomes the more diverse range of attitudes you
are going to get. You are going to get people that want to learn linux
(just like you), all about it and will ask questions to assist them understanding a
particular point.
Then you have the other end of the spectrum, people that see linux as a
tool and just want to USE it. They will ask 'I want to do xyz, what steps
do I need to take to get it going'
I myself are somewhere in between. Some things I want to know about, others
I just want to get running, forget it and the knowledge I learnt and use it.
iptables is an example, I told a group (www.linuxquestions.org) what I wanted
and asked them how do I do it with iptables. Someone responded, it worked
and now have a copy on disk that I use every single time.
It saddens me that people in ANY particular group expect everyone in the
entire group to have the same attitude, outlook and goals as they do.
